The 3M Liqui-Cel Series membrane contactors provide a highly efficient solution to remove dissolved gases (e.g., air, oxygen, bubbles) from liquids. The technology uses non-porous, gas-permeable hollow fiber membranes: liquid flows on one side while a vacuum is applied on the other, allowing gases to pass through the membrane into the vacuum side.

For inkjet printing systems, these membrane contactors are widely used in ink recirculation loops to degas low surface-tension liquids such as inks with surfactants or organic solvents. By removing bubbles and dissolved gases, they help prevent nozzle misfires, improve drop formation, and stabilize print quality.

The design is compact and supports in-line installation, making integration into existing systems easy.    Moreover, the membranes are chemically compatible with a wide range of ink formulations.
